This collaborative project called to dismantle an existing barn and reuse the materials in a new campus building funded by the college, which would be planned, designed, and constructed through a participatory process driven by students. From initial programmatic surveys, public meetings, site analysis, conceptual design, fund-raising, and deconstruction, the project took the forms of a formal studio course, a group independent study guided by a practicing architect, and a summer internship. The project has been an exploration of campus development, a practical exercise in collaboration and teamwork, and a pedagogical experiment that has shaped my perspective on design education.
