During a series of field study programs led by the International Design Clinic, our team partnered with local nonprofits and a group of Bolivian students to work with youth on the streets of La Paz and El Alto. The goal was to generate new, street-based versions of education that more adequately fit the lifestyle of these youth. Each member of the team was responsible for pursuing independent research that would contribute to a collaborative design/build final project. I chose to look at public parks as spaces of contestation and change, and engage local youth to share their expertise on specific site conditions and histories. This work contributed to our final project, a mobile park commissioned by a local arts nonprofit.
